The sun has set after a hot day in the tropics and you’re sitting underneath the stars ready to feast and fiesta the night away. What’s the cocktail in your hand? It must be a Negroni.

If you’re yet to experience this, Negroni Week is the perfect time for you to dip your toes into the delights of the fiery-red drink.

First thing’s first, what is Negroni Week?

Between the 18th and 24th September, bars and restaurants around the world will come together to celebrate the iconic cocktail. This is spearheaded by Campari, the heart of every Negroni, and will support Slow Food’s mission to foster a more sustainable world of food and beverage.

Negroni Week

History of the Negroni

The Negroni was created in Fosco Scarselli’s bar in Florence in 1919. Its namesake, Count Camilo Negroni, asked for a touch of gin rather than soda to his Americano to strengthen it. An orange slice replaced the usual lemon twist and the Negroni was born, set to become one of world’s most famous Italian cocktails over the course of a century.
